Frequently asked questions
How are words counted for Chinese or Japanese?
Each CJK character counts as one word, while Latin text is counted by whitespace-separated words — the standard approach for mixed-language text.
What reading speed do you assume?
About 200 words (or 300 CJK characters) per minute for silent reading, and 130 words per minute for speaking.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. All statistics are computed locally as you type.
