Tips for smaller files

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after loading the page.

Why is my PNG barely smaller after compressing?

PNG is a lossless format, so the quality setting doesn't affect it. To shrink PNG files dramatically, pick WebP or JPEG as the output format, or lower the max dimension.

Is there a file count or size limit?

No artificial limits. Because everything runs on your own hardware, the practical limit is your device's memory. On phones, batches of a few hundred photos work fine.
